The first Kiwanis Club of Brighton Community Breakfast was held on the 14th May 1994. Guest Speaker was eminent Australian, Dame Phyllis Frost AC DBE JP, who, despite her advancing years, gave an inspirational and memorable address to the 86 attendees including local politicians, Murray Thompson and David Kemp. Guest speaker at the 1995 Breakfast was high profile youth worker, Les Twentyman AO. Other guest speakers have included: Tammy van Wisse  (marathon swimmer); Ian Cover (media presenter), Judith Griggs (Grand Prix Corp. Chief Executive ), Leigh Matthews AM (A.F.L. footballer and coach), Ross Oakley (A.F.L. President), The Rev. Tim Costello AO (Baptist Minister & World Vision head), The Hon. Tim Fischer AC (former leader of the National Party and Deputy Prime Minister), Stephanie Alexander AO (chef and entrepreneur), Christine Nixon APM (Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police), Hugh Evans (Young Australian of the Year; humanitarian. Co-founder of The Oaktree Foundation and the Global Poverty Project) Peter Rowsthorn "MC" (comedian/actor).   In the early years the Breakfast was held at the Brighton and Sandringham Yacht Clubs but, as it grew, it eventually found its home at The International of Brighton. It became a well established and popular annual event helping to engender a spirit of community in addition to raising funds for our service projects.Owing to dwindling attendance numbers, the Breakfast has been “on-ice” for a number of years.  

Other Notable Visitors: In addition to those who have spoken at our Community Breakfast, we have had a myriad of interesting visitors over the years such as Mal Walden (journalist and veteran news presenter), Charles “Bud” Tingwell AM (actor/director), Bernard Bongiorno QC (D.P.P. and Justice of the Supreme Court), Dr. Ruth Bishop AO (renowned virologist & medical researcher); a leading member of the team that discovered the human rotavirus, Fr. Bob Maguire AM RFD (priest, media personality, founder of Open Family & The Father Bob Maguire Foundation), Julian Burnside AO QC., (high profile barrister and human rights campaigner), Prof. Nancy Millis MBE AC (eminent scientist; Nancy also became a member of our club), Athol Guy AO (Musician, Media Personality, Politician and member of The Seekers), Mike Brady AM (Musician/performer/producer)  Lisa Edwards (singer and musician), Tony Charlton (television and radio presenter).
